Brienna Thompson has done an incredible job of getting the people of her campus involved with Honor Society! We also support and honor our Marines, so we are very pleased to have Brienna as a member. Congratulations! “I am a lover of adventure and the outdoors. Having graduated at 15 with my first degree, I set out on an unusual path through my educational journey.
Whether snowboarding through Tahoe, climbing St. Helen’s, or a short stint in the Marine Corps I managed to find myself at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) to finish my Master in Social Work. While at VCU, I was on The Graduate Student Association (GSA) as a Social Work representative chair, Member Success Chair for the Master of Social Work Graduate Student Association (MSWGSA), Executive Officer for the Student Veterans Association (SGA), a mentor in the Graduate Student Mentorship Program (GSMP), and the President of the Honors Society at VCU where I stood up a new organization and Executive Board in my graduating semester.
Once graduated, I intend to become an active duty social work specialized in PTSD for special forces communities and influence policy in a way that changes how we look at that particular type of PTSD and how it may need different intervention than what is currently offered in psychotherapy.
