Jennifer Stark, Honor Society Member Spotlight Scholarship, Columbus State University

-HQDje9w

Hi, my name is Jennifer Starck. I’m a Graduate Assistant at Columbus State University, pursuing a Master’s in Elementary Education. While working towards obtaining this degree, I have done my best to become an active member in my community. Some of my extracurricular activities include faithfully attending church, working as a tutor, and maintaining physical fitness with fellow peers. I believe that in order to have a healthy life, one needs to have a balanced lifestyle in regards to body, mind, and soul.

Furthermore, as I have worked towards the completion of this degree, I have learned how to better budget money and appreciate the value of the dollar. Throughout my time in school, I’ve had to work a second job as well as being a graduate assistant while in full time school to fully pay my tuition and book costs.

With the Fall semester approaching, I knew that I needed to secure a scholarship to aid me financially in completing my final semester of college. In order to obtain a teaching certificate, a full semester of student teaching is required upon graduation. The hours run just like any typical elementary school day: 7:30 am-3:30 pm. Having this obligation meant I would have to give up my graduate assistantship along with the stipend for school and tuition

Being chosen as the recipient of the 2020 Member Spotlight Scholarship has made it possible for me to complete my final semester in school! I’m so thankful to the Honor Society for their choice and I hope my video is an inspiration to many students. I want to personally thank the Honor Society Foundation for aiding thousands of students on a yearly basis; because of your organization you have created countless opportunities for us to succeed and make a difference in the world.
