My name is Mariah Schindler and I am the recipient of the Core Values Scholarship of 2019. I am  majoring in Social Work and minoring in Sociology at Wichita State University. I have just completed my first year of college and I really enjoyed the experience! Wichita State University has a welcoming environment that makes it easy to get involved on campus. Along with focusing on my education, I joined an intramural indoor volleyball team. I had a blast! When beginning

my adventure in Wichita, I went in not knowing anyone. I definitely wanted to put myself out there and knew in order to do that, I had to join some activities and clubs. Being the recipient for this scholarship is an honor and a blessing. The scholarship will help further my educational experience and relieve some financial stress. As a student, is it important to focus on achieving goals and working towards a career. The Core Values Scholarship of 2019 will aid in my journey of becoming a social worker. I strive to help and support people through their difficult times and guide them in improving their life.
