My name is Geraldine Doronio. I am currently a doctoral nursing practice student at The University of Alabama, Capstone College of Nursing. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas and my Master’s degree in Nurse Anesthesia in 2008 from Samuel Merritt University. I am a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) providing anesthesia care at a community hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. Along with my 11-year nurse anesthesia career, I am a service member for the United States Army Reserve. My primary nursing background consists of emergency, trauma, and critical care.
Outside of my workplace and school, I am spending every minute I am afforded with my family, binge watching Netflix or playing outdoors. I also enjoy reading, music, playing the piano, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and trying new restaurants. To keep sane through my juggling act, I practice meditation and yoga regularly.
I am humbled by the opportunity to attend one of the best online nursing programs in the country. After 18 years in nursing and having been out of school for over ten years, I am thoroughly enjoying The University of Alabama’s distance education experience and extremely supportive professors. Receiving this generous scholarship from the Honor Society is a blessing that will allow me to achieve my dream of obtaining my terminal degree in nursing.
