Kendall Few, our Undergraduate Achiever Scholarship recipient, is a Public Relations major at The University of Oklahoma, with a love of political science, too. “My parents offer the utmost emotional support and do what they can to financially support me, but ultimately, I am paying for my college education on my own. I knew this when I chose my school, turning down full rides to other universities because I love the University of Oklahoma, its atmosphere and the people here. Though I received a few scholarships and loans, I rely on my waitressing job to finance the rest of my expenses. Unfortunately, balancing school and work has been difficult, and I haven’t had the time to participate as actively as I hoped.
I was honored to be invited to join Honor Society, and I am excited and thankful to have received the Undergraduate Achiever Scholarship. This scholarship helps to lessen the financial burden and creates the opportunity for me to work less and become more involved on campus. I am looking forward to participating in The University of Oklahoma Public Relations Student Society of America which offers students like me an opportunity to gain real world knowledge and experience to better prepare for the workforce.
I have been invited to join the University of Oklahoma chapters of Phi Sigma Pi and Alpha Lambda Delta which offer volunteer opportunities on campus and in the community. I have chosen a political science minor because I enjoy politics and activism, and I am thrilled OU has a diverse range political student organizations that allow me to engage in the political process while pursuing my degree I am fortunate to be part of an organization that supports students like me in achieving my dreams and provides valuable resources for students both during and after college. Honor Society truly is a blessing in my life, and I appreciate the opportunities opened for me as a recipient of the Undergraduate Achiever Scholarship.”
