I attend Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX where our school’s motto is “A Measure of Life is its Service”. I am a business management major and a dance minor, and I also work two part time jobs while attending school full time. As you can see, I am used to a busy lifestyle, so when I have free time between school and work I love to volunteer wherever it is needed. I am the youngest in my family with two older brothers, which means college funds are very limited for me. This scholarship will help me continue with my education and reduce the money I am needing to borrow. Along with being a member of The Honors Society I am a member of the Sam Houston Honors College.
The Honors College requires at least 10 hours of community service per semester, which I am very thankful for. Volunteering has always been something I have been required to do for many honors societies, but I believe I have a natural servant’s heart. The lessons you learn from volunteer work are many and help you in other daily activities such as work and school. In essence, I have been blessed to be a servant for many in need and am very grateful for receiving the Community Service Scholarship.
