“My name is Veronica Perry and I am a graduate student at the University of Southern California studying organizational communication and mental health. I have also served as president of the Southern California Communication Association (SCCA)for the past two academic years and regularly volunteer at the Trojan Food Pantry, helping food insecure students obtain healthy and free meals. As president of the SCCA, I spearheaded the organizations first social impact initiative that serves both the Trojan FoodPantry and the Downtown Women’s Center in LA.
I led a fall and spring health and wellness initiative collecting over 1,000 items for donation to the Trojan Food Pantry and a Women’s Wellness Initiative collecting over 2,000 items for donation to the DowntownWomen’s Center. After I complete my master’s degree at USC, I will work towards earning a PhD in organizational communication to become a research professor.
This scholarship will greatly enhance my educational experience by allowing me to fund a portion of my enrollment in my final semester at USC. I am so grateful to receive this scholarship because it means more than just tuition assistance, it is a confirmation that my contributions to my community matter and motivates me to continue launching social impact initiatives that benefit those most in need.”
