James Wheeler, Study Abroad Scholarship Recipient, James Madison University

My name is James Wheeler, a rising junior at James Madison University, located in Harrisonburg, VA. I am currently double majoring in Finance and Economics and have a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies through the Honors College at JMU. Outside of the classroom, I spend much of my time playing soccer with my teammates on the JMU Men’s Club Soccer team. We have a nationals trip every year and find ways to fundraise in ways that benefit the community.

Another thing I enjoy is to travel. Last summer, I went on my first study abroad trip to London. In just three short weeks, I was able to gain a whole new perspective on life and education. The passion for educational and cultural experiences have led me to the conclusion that later down the road, I would like to be a professor. This scholarship is going to help assist me in having these cultural and transformative educational experiences on all ends of the globe.
